Before the Photo (2016) - director, editor

We were to choose one photo from our childhood: one of our best and/or favourite memories. Rather than explain the complete context of the photograph, we had to focus on explaining what happened before the photo was taken. This was essentially a chance for us to play around with angles, light and focus. We had to take between 5-8 different shots, where each shot was from a different angle. This was where I started to learn the importance of filming many different shots of different angles within the same story. It allows the filmmaker to maintain continuity, whilst maintaining the viewer's interest. This way, a 'moment' on film can be captured from many different angles, which is effective in transporting the viewer to where the actor is, or where the film is taking place.

Shot on Nikon D90, with tripod.
